Direct Connection
The standard GoToMyPC connection relays via our public servers. Direct Connection removes the relay to GoToMyPC servers, allowing a direct connection between the two PCs using the same encryption.
Enabling Direct Connection
- On the host, go to the system tray and choose the GoToMyPC icon.
- Choose Preferences.
- Under the Connection tab, choose from the following:
Option Description Allowed between Any Two Computers Allows a direct connection to be established between any client and Windows host. Only Allowed within Your Network Allows a direct connection between any a client and a host that is in the same network. Not Allowed Disables Direct Connection. - Click OK.
Result
Your new connection settings are set. Your connection status can be one of the following:
Option | Description |
Not In Session | The host is not being accessed. |
Establishing | The host is attempting to make a direct connection with a client. |
Connected to another computer | The host is connected to a client |
Connected within your network | he host is connected to a client in the same network. |
Disabled | Direct Connection is disabled. |
Direct Connections and firewalls
You may see prompts from the host side firewall. You must allow the GoToMyPC Viewer access to use the Direct Connection feature. For more information, see Using firewalls with GoToMyPC
