The GoToMyPC Connection Wizard

The GoToMyPC Connection Wizard is a program that tests and determines the ideal connection settings within your network. The Connection Wizard stores these optimal connection settings on your computer for use in future sessions.

Note: The GoToMyPC Connection Wizard is currently unavailable to Mac users.

Run the GoToMyPC Connection Wizard

  1. Go to http://www.GoToMyPC.com/wizard
  2. Download and open the GoToMyPC Connection Wizard.
    Note: If you are running GoToMyPC v9.4.0, b2149 or older, use this version of the Connection Wizard.
  3. Once the wizard opens, select Run the Connection Wizard.
  4. If the Wizard does not automatically open your browser to www.GoToMyPC.com, go to the page. When your browser is open to www.GoToMyPC.com, select OK.
  5. Wait for the Wizard to test connectivity and then select Next.

    Result: Once finished, the Wizard notifies you of the results.

  6. Select Finish or I still have problems for additional support.

Use the Custom Wizard (Advanced Users Only)

The Custom Wizard offers advanced users and network administrators customizable options that control how GoToMyPC manages connections within your network. To run the custom GoToMyPC Connection Wizard:

  1. Go to http://www.GoToMyPC.com/wizard
  2. Download and open the GoToMyPC Connection Wizard, and select Configure advanced settings for the Connection Wizard.
    Note: You can also choose to Run the Connection Wizard in advanced mode, but this will retain the default configurations.
  3. Specify the parameters of the connection test and select Next.
    Note:
    • For detailed information on the GoToMyPC data server IP addresses that the Wizard attempts to reach, please consult our IP range document.
    • If the Wizard is unable to validate your network proxy connection settings, contact your network administrator and refer to our IP range for optimal firewall configuration.


  4. Wait for the Wizard to detect a connection to our servers, then select Next.
  5. The Wizard will display all verified connection methods. Select a preferred connection method and validate by selecting Validate the selected methods. If there are no connection methods available in the Streaming or HTTP tabs, the "Validate the selected methods" option will be disabled. Note that the Display the connection report option will take you to the final Technical Report screen, where you will be redirected to the Wizard report.
    Note: If the Wizard is unable to validate your network proxy connection settings, contact your network administrator and refer to our IP range for optimal firewall configuration.

  6. Once detected and validated, you will see the Summary window.
    • Validate another connection method: This will take you to the previous screen.
    • Restart the Connection Wizard: This will take you to the beginning of the Wizard.
    • Store this connection method for use with GoToMyPC: This will take you to the final Technical Report screen.
    • Do not store connection settings: This will take you to the final Technical Report screen but will not save the configurations you've made.
  7. The Technical Report screen is the final screen where you can view your Wizard Report. Clicking this link will open the specific Wizard Report files in your Windows Explorer (User > AppData > Local > Temp > GoToLogs > G2P Wizard Result).
