Install GoToMyPC

Installing GoToMyPC is only required for the Windows or Mac computer you want to access remotely.

As a quick recap, to access a computer from anywhere in the world, you must first install the GoToMyPC app on the computer that you want to access. Then you can use any computer with internet access to connect to the computer where you've installed the app. In short, it all begins with walking up to the computer that you want to make accessible and installing a piece of software that allows you and only you to establish a secure connection.

Windows

Physically go to the computer that you want to access remotely and log in to your account at www.gotomypc.com.
Add the computer to your account.
- In the classic GoToMyPC experience, if you already have other computers added to your account, select Add This Computer under the list of your computers.
- In the new GoToMyPC experience, if you already have other computers added to your account, select Add new computer at the top of the page.
- In the classic GoToMyPC experience, if you do not have a computer on your account yet, select Download installer under Add This Computer.
- In the new GoToMyPC experience, if you do not have a computer on your account yet, select Download under Add this computer.
On the Installation page, select Install GoToMyPC.
Run the downloaded installer.
Select Next at the installer's Welcome screen.
Restart your computer when prompted.
In the Enter Account Information window, type your email address and account password (these are the same that you use to log in to the GoToMyPC website) and select Log In.
If needed, select the account to which this computer should belong and select Continue.
Create a computer Nickname for the host.
Create and confirm an Access Code that is different from your account password, and then select Continue or OK.
Once GoToMyPC has been successfully installed, you will see the GoToMyPC icon on your desktop. On Windows computers, the icon appears in your system tray.

Mac

Physically go to the computer that you want to access remotely and log in to your account at www.gotomypc.com.
Add the computer to your account.
- In the classic GoToMyPC experience, if you already have other computers added to your account, select Add This Computer under the list of your computers.
- In the new GoToMyPC experience, if you already have other computers added to your account, select Add new computer at the top of the page.
- In the classic GoToMyPC experience, if you do not have a computer on your account yet, select Download installer under Add This Computer.
- In the new GoToMyPC experience, if you do not have a computer on your account yet, select Download under Add this computer.
Run the installer, called GoTo Opener.
Once download is complete, the Install GoToMyPC window will launch.
Select Continue on the installer's Introduction page.
Select Install on the Installation Type page.
Once you select Install, you will be prompted to enter your computer log in credentials. Enter your username and password and then select Install Software.
You will be redirected to the GoToMyPC Registration window.
Enter your email address and account password (these are the same that you use to log in to the GoToMyPC Web site) and select Log In.
Create a computer Nickname for the host and select Continue.
Create and confirm an Access Code that is different from your account password, and then select Continue.

Results: Once GoToMyPC has been successfully installed, you will see the GoToMyPC icon on your desktop. On Mac computers, appears at the top of your screen in the Mac menu bar.
