Change your forgotten access code

You can easily create a new access code to connect to your Windows or Mac host computer.

Your access code resides only on your host computer, and it is never transmitted over the Internet. It is a critical component in the encryption key that is used to keep your host computer secure. For security reasons, GoToMyPC does not have a record of your access code and has no way to provide it to you if you forget it while traveling. Since it cannot be emailed, you must be physically present at the host computer to create a new access code.

Note: Passwords and access codes are not the same. If you need to change or reset your password, refer to the Change or reset your account password guide.
Note: Your administrator may require you to change your access code on a regular basis if you are on a Pro or Corporate plan.

If you forgot your access code, you need to be at the host computer to change it and use the new code to connect. If you need further assistance, make sure you're at the host computer before contacting Customer Care.

On a Windows computer

  1. Connect to your Windows host computer. If you do not remember your access code, you must be physically by your host computer.
  2. Select the GoToMyPC icon in the system tray and select Change Access Code.
    Note: You may have to select the Arrow icon to load hidden icons.

  3. Enter your GoToMyPC account credentials (i.e., email address and account password) and select Log In. If you don't remember your account password, select Forgot your password?.
  4. Enter and confirm your new access code and select OK.
    Note: The access code must be at least eight characters long, and include both numbers and letters.

Results: You have successfully changed the access code for your computer.

On a Mac computer

  1. Connect to your Mac host computer. If you do not remember your access code, you must be physically by your host computer.
  2. Select the GoToMyPC icon in the menu bar, then select Change Access Code
  3. Enter your GoToMyPC account credentials (i.e., email address and password) and select Log In. If you don't remember your account password, select Forgot your password?.
  4. Enter and confirm your new access code and select OK.
    Note: The access code must be at least eight characters long and include both numbers and letters.

Results: You have successfully changed the access code for your computer.

Make GoToMyPC remember your Access Code

The "Don't ask access code again" option in the Enter Access Code window saves your access code in an encrypted form. When you run the next session, GoToMyPC does not ask for the access code again. The function manages expired and changed access codes as well. For security reasons, you can only trust your device if you are required to enter a password at sign-in.

Important: For security reasons, it is important that your access code should be different from your account password (which is the password you use to log in to the GoToMyPC website).
Note: This functionality is only available if your client computer is using a password protected Windows profile.

Have GoToMyPC remember your access code

  1. Connect to your host computer .
  2. On the Enter Access Code window, check the Don't ask access code again option.
  3. Select OK.

Results: The next time you connect to that host computer, GoToMyPC will not prompt you to enter your access code.

Clear saved access code

  1. Once connected to your host computer, select Tools in the top menu of the viewer.
  2. Select Ask Access Code Again.

Results: The next time you connect to that host computer, you will be prompted with the access code window.
